Who would forget this Cathy Garcia-Molina film in 2010? Starring John Lloyd Cruz and Toni Gonzaga, My Amnesia Girl blew our hearts away with its cheesy heart quenching pickup lines as Apollo (played by John Lloyd Cruz) tried to pursue Irene (Toni Gonzaga) again after he left her alone in the altar. Irene, who still hates his ex, pretended to have a contracted amnesia when she accidentally met him at a grocery store, three years after. 9. Bakit Di Ka Crush ng Crush Mo (2013)

 

 

Directed by Joyce Bernal, Bakit Di Ka Crush ng Crush Mo is a film adaptation of Ramon Bautista’s famous book of the same name. Starring Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, with special appearances of Ramon Bautista, this chick flick is about the transformation journey of Sandy Veloso (Kim Chiu) from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. His boss, Alex Prieto (Xian Lim), offered her a makeover after her ex-boyfriend Edgardo (Kean Cipriano) left him. This is the first movie of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim together. What made it memorable are the funny yet relatable reasons why our crush doesn’t have a crush on us which were mentioned in the film.

8. Suddenly It’s Magic (2012)

 

 

A story about two star-crossed lovers, Suddenly It’s Magic became a memorable film because it was starred by popular Thai actor Mario Maurer together with Erich Gonzales. The film had international screenings in Singapore and United States, as well as in Thailand and Cambodia, months after it was released in the Philippines.

7. Diary Ng Panget (2014)

 

 

The first-ever movie of JaDine, Diary ng Panget captured our hearts with the beautiful chemistry of James Reid and Nadine Lustre. It’s a film adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same title written by Denny R. The story is about Eya (Nadine Lustre) who faces different modern-day struggles as a young adult and became a nanny to Cross (James Reid), an egoistic young man who lost his mother at a very young age and eventually fell in love to Eya. The film earned a box office success and became part of the Top 10 Highest Grossing Filipino Films in 2014.

6. She’s Dating The Gangster (2014)

 

 

Another movie released in 2014, She’s Dating The Gangster is a film adaptation of the best Pop Fiction book of the same name written by Bianca Bernardino. Starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, the movie is about a young girl named Athena (younger role played by Kathryn Bernardo) who fell in love with Kenji (younger role played by Daniel Padilla), a gangster from her school. Unlike other love stories, the two didn’t end up together. A mix of present and past events, the film made the audience laugh, cry and fall in love. What’s your favorite scene in the movie?

5. Kasal Kasali Kasalo (2006)

 

 

An official entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2006, Kasal Kasali Kasalo is a Filipino romantic comedy film starring real-life couple, Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. The story is about two opposite people who fell in love with each other and eventually became a couple. It mainly tackled the real-life struggles of a couple from getting married to starting a family. The film was declared as the big winner of the 32nd Metro Manila Film Festival, earning a total of nine awards, and 4th highest-grossing Philippine-produced movie of all time.

4. A Very Special Love (2008)

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, A Very Special Love is the first-ever movie of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo together. The story is about Laida Magtalas (Sarah Geronimo), a positive young lady who works as an Editorial Assistant at a newly launched men’s magazine owned by Miggy Montenegro (John Lloyd Cruz), her crush. Do you remember the famous sun dance of Laida? It’s one of the famous scenes in the movie.

3. Kita Kita (2017)

 

 

 

The highest grossing Philippine independent film, Kita Kita is a romantic comedy film set in Sapporo, Japan. Starred by Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez, the story is about a Filipina named Lea (De Rossi) who is struggling with temporary blindness.  She then met her neighbor Tonyo (Empoy) who stood by her side despite being rebuffed several times. But unlike other romantic stories, they didn’t have a happily ever after. Tonyo got hit by a vehicle and died. Kita Kita is the first-ever movie of De Rossi and Marquez together which captivated the hearts of many.

Who would forget the 2014 rom-com film of Antoinette Jadaone? The film left a huge impact on its audience. It was even dubbed as the “Ultimate Hugot Movie of the Year” because of the heart-wrenching hugot lines in the movie. The story is about Mace, a heartbroken woman who met Anthony (JM de Guzman) at an airport in Rome when she was struggling with her luggage. Upon arriving in the Philippines, the two decided to go places together, trying to mend their broken hearts. Little did they know that they were slowly falling in love with each other but in the end, they didn’t end up together. What’s your favorite hugot line from the movie?

The story is about (Claudine Barretto), a wedding coordinator who is struggling to find her Mr. Right, and Lorenz (Rico Yan), a young wedding photographer who doesn’t believe in happy endings. The two worked together when Lorenz offered Toni a date with his bachelor friend who is based in abroad. With the romantic chemistry of Claudine and Rico, you’ll surely believe in the magic of love.
