A brighter future is on the horizon! SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, has teamed up with the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Philippines to bring light and hope to underserved communities through the All Lights Village project. This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide sustainable energy solutions, educational support, and livelihood opportunities to rural villages without electricity.
Powering Communities, Changing Lives
The partnership was officially sealed on February 14, 2025, at the SM Prime Headquarters with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Present at the event were key leaders from both organizations, including Jocelyn Remigio, Program Director for Community Development of GPF, Leonard Faustino, Executive Director of GPF Philippines, Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing of SM Supermalls, and Engr. Junias Eusebio, Vice President for Mall Operations of SM Supermalls.
With this collaboration, SM Cares is taking a significant step in championing clean energy and sustainability by providing fundraising spaces in SM Aura, SM Megamall, and SM Mall of Asia. These booths will raise funds to supply solar lighting and other essential resources to off-grid communities, paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
Lighting Up Lives, One Village at a Time
The All Lights Village project, spearheaded by GPF Philippines, goes beyond providing solar-powered lighting. It fosters holistic community development by integrating education, skills training, and livelihood programs to uplift families in remote areas. By reducing reliance on hazardous kerosene lamps, this initiative ensures that children can study safely at night while families benefit from a healthier and more sustainable living environment.
Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing at SM Supermalls, emphasized the transformative impact of this initiative:
“SM Cares is honored to support the All Lights Village project in its mission to empower communities through sustainable solutions. This is more than just lighting homes—it’s about creating opportunities, fostering growth, and making a lasting impact on lives.”
Leonard Faustino, Executive Director of GPF Philippines, echoed these sentiments:
“This partnership with SM Cares is a testament to how small actions—like bringing light to a home—can lead to meaningful, long-term change. Together, we are igniting a movement of hope and empowerment.”
A Call to Action: Be Part of the Change
The fundraising booths at SM malls will serve as a bridge for shoppers and mall-goers to contribute to this life-changing cause. Every donation will help provide sustainable lighting, improve education, and support livelihood programs in underserved areas. Details on booth locations and schedules will be announced soon—stay tuned and be part of the movement for a brighter tomorrow!
Building a Sustainable Future Together
SM Cares remains committed to uplifting communities and supporting impactful initiatives that drive meaningful change. Through the All Lights Village project, SM Supermalls and the Global Peace Foundation Philippines are not just bringing light to homes—they are illuminating futures, fostering resilience, and creating empowered communities across the country.
