Every first Friday and Saturday of the month, SM Supermalls goes green in a big way with its nationwide ‘Trash to Cash’ (TTC) recycling market. This eco-friendly initiative isn’t just about clearing out recyclables—it’s about making sustainability accessible, rewarding, and impactful. Since its launch in 2007, TTC has been helping communities embrace waste segregation and recycling while earning a little extra cash in the process.
A Nationwide Sustainability Push
With 87 SM malls participating across the country, the TTC program has become a go-to hub for responsible waste disposal. Whether you’re a shopper, tenant, or local resident, you can drop off your sorted recyclables and get rewarded on the spot. By keeping waste out of landfills and ensuring materials get repurposed, TTC is actively driving the shift toward a circular economy—one recycled item at a time.

Making Sustainability Pay Off
TTC isn’t just about going green; it’s about making a real impact. In 2024 alone, the program collected over 12 million kilograms of recyclables, translating to more than ₱28 million in earnings for participants. To put that into perspective, if all those recyclables were paper, that’s 204,000 trees saved! If they were plastic, that’s 18,000 tons of carbon emissions reduced. It’s proof that small, consistent efforts lead to massive environmental wins.
“TTC is more than a recycling program—it’s a movement. It empowers individuals and businesses to turn sustainability into both a responsibility and an opportunity. By participating, people don’t just help the planet; they also earn from it,” said SM Supermalls President Steven Tan.

A Collective Call to Action
With climate issues becoming more urgent, TTC shows how everyday actions can add up to meaningful change. By joining the program, you’re not just clearing out waste—you’re contributing to a cleaner, healthier planet while supporting the circular economy.
Want to get involved? It’s easy. Just gather your recyclables—paper, plastic bottles, and other reusable materials—and bring them to your nearest participating SM mall.
